An evening with....Zog House
Thu 10 May '12 18:00 - 19:00

Zog House Address to be provided on booking London NW6 6NA

This evening tour provides a rare opportunity to tour Zog House, a new build contemporary family home by Solidspace with Groves Natcheva Architects, short-listed for the RIBA London Awards 2010 and winner of best London home at the Property Awards 2011.
The owner, Gus Zogolovitch, will host this evening tour of his self-built home on what was previously a derelict site, tucked in between the traditional Victorian terraces of a conservation area.
The brief was simple - to design a scheme which overcame the numerous planning issues and at the same time to deliver a home which supports and enhances a contemporary family lifestyle.
Zog House was built around using the revolutionary Solidspace split-section, a typology that takes open plan living from the horizontal to the vertical, and aims to establish a new housing typology for the 21st Century.
From the outside Zog House is a simple stack of smooth rendered white cubes framed by native landscaping. This juxtaposition continues inside with plaster offset by exposed pre-cast concrete and warm natural flooring.
Solar thermal panels, photovoltaics, rainwater collection, insulation, and heat recovery ventilation and high thermal mass are strategically integrated into the design, bringing energy consumption down to Passivhaus levels.
Zog House shows how a self-build project on a constrained urban infill brownfield plot can incorporate a host of sustainability innovations, make best use of prefabrication technologies, and deliver light, volume, and character in a new build home.
With a complimentary glass of prosecco on arrival.
