Studio Culture conferences are funded by the UK Higher Education Academy Centre for Education in the Built Environment (CEBE), and targeted at design studio teachers of Architecture courses. The aim is to promote discussion and sharing of experience amongst teachers of architecture. The two days will offer a series of workshops around studio teaching and presentation of papers from tutors from UK and Europe.
The theme of the year's conference is The Intercultural Studio; we will focus on the culture of studio teaching, the studio as a place of production and exchange, criticality, the relevance of the crit and other forums of discussion, the studio as a place of learning through making and other issues.
There will also be a private view and guided tour of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Design Summer Exhibition 2012, at the Faculty building, Spring House.
The conference will be introduced by the Dean of Architecture and Spatial Design, Professor Robert Mull, and Tom Emerson of 6a Architects / ETH Zürich will be a keynote speaker.
