Whitechapel
For over a century the Whitechapel Gallery has premiered world-class artists from modern masters such as Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Frida Kahlo to contemporaries such as Sophie Calle, Lucien Freud, Gilbert & George and Mark Wallinger. It was the first public gallery dedicated to temporary art exhibitions and it has held significant shows of the great names of British 20th century art, such as David Hockney, Gilbert and George, Anthony Caro, and Gary Hume. Exhibitions of architecture have included Mies van der Rohe 1905 - 1938 and David Adjaye: Making Public Buildings. |
